A bride smokes a cigarette as her groom carries her through Red Square in the worst smog so far in the record high temperatures of the continuing heatwave. Peat and forest fires in the countryside surrounding Moscow have resulted in the Russian capital being blanketed in heavy smog, the worst in the country’s recorded history. Health authorities have said that air pollutants were ten times above the safety level over the weekend.
